Founded in 2014, the Mighty Youth Runners is a youth running club that is affiliated with Road Runners Club of America. It is dedicated to promoting running and a healthy lifestyle for youth. The mission of MYR is to inspire youth runners to become more active and to improve their physical and mental well-being through running. MYR is committed to encouraging each child to do their best in athletics, in academics, and social emotionally. MYR supports each child's individual abilities, their individual running performance, as well as their personal achievements.
MYR's vision is to provide a club for youth to improve their confidence, healthy lifestyle, performance, and positive outlook on life through running. MYR is dedicated to providing a quality program, incorporating Kids Run the Nation, in a fun and safe environment.
Coaches
Jenni Tellefsen Jenni is a certified running coach through Road Runners Club of America. She teaches elementary PE in the San Mateo Foster City School District and she is passionate about running. She organized and led the Springer Elementary School running club, Run4YourLife, for 8 years and has also been a Girls on the Run Coach. Her goal is to expose youth to the joys of running, whether they do it competitively, or just for fun. She strongly believes that if you find a physical activity you enjoy, you will stay active your entire life. Jenni has been running for over 35 years. She has completed 4 marathons, 2 half marathons, and has twice completed the 190 mile Golden Gate Relay with her friends. But she especially loves running in the hills of the Bay Area.
Julie McCullough Julie has been a long time runner and is passionate about health and fitness. She has run multiple half marathons and the 190 mile Golden Gate Relay twice with her friends. She now incorporates Pilates, weight training, and hiking into her fitness routine. And she brings her passions and expertise to MYR and leads lessons in nutrition and healthy habits.
